Choices for Life on GLOW TV is back

We are really excited to announce that our next live event for P7 pupils in Scotland on GLOW TV will be on 22nd May 2013. The event will be delivered twice on the same day, to allow as many pupils as possible to view the broadcast. Get the date in your diary now!

What’s it all about?

The broadcast is aimed at all P7 pupils and teachers in Scotland and will have a focus around the risks and dangers of alcohol, negative peer pressure, substance misuse, aspirations and making positive healthy lifestyle choices.

Following a similar lively format to our event in November 2012, the show will consist of brand new drama, a live panel discussion with experts to whom you can submit questions to via GLOW and interviews with Olympic athlete Eilidh Childs and Gymtasia Evolution who were runners up on SKY 1 Got to Dance.

Our presenters Mark Martin and Laura Marks will also be back with us. You can also expect a couple of surprises!

Pre-event activity

We’re currently filming a brand new drama for the event.  It is based around one of our existing dramas, “Sophie’s Story” where you follow Sophie’s night out to a party where she decides to drink alcohol to impress a boy.  The situation deteriorates as Sophie as she becomes more drunk and vulnerable. You may remember seeing Sophie in Liam's story when she was wandering in the park.

To get the most out of our live event we ask teachers to watch Sophie’s Story with their class prior to the event.  You can find the video on this website at http://choicesforlifeonline.org/cards/resources-for-teachers.aspx. If you can’t view the video on YouTube please go to our page on Vimeo at https://vimeo.com/choicesforlife.

There are also teaching resources available to help you have a classroom discussion about Sophie’s Story or do some further activities around the drama.  You can find them here http://choicesforlifeonline.org/media/14462/choices_resources_sophies_story_feb_13.pdf

If any issues arise as a result of watching the drama there are many places you can go to for further information. See our help page for some useful links to other websites or you can go directly from here

You’ll get the most out of the event if you do watch Sophie’s Story but it doesn’t matter if you’re not able to – you’ll still enjoy our new drama.
